The event, graced by the Kabaka of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, drew widespread attention and celebration.

Buddu’s tactical edge and unwavering spirit ultimately secured their triumph, in what proved to be a fiercely contested game. Reflecting on the match, Buddu’s coach, Simon Ddungu, expressed immense pride in his team. “This was a fantastic team effort,” Ddungu said. “We knew Kyaggwe would be tough opponents, but our players showed great resilience and determination.”

He praised Buddu for their well-deserved win while recognizing Kyaggwe’s commendable effort. “This year’s tournament was a continued celebration of sportsmanship and unity, and we commend Buddu for their outstanding victory as well as Kyaggwe for their commendable performance,” Mayiga stated. He also expressed gratitude for the Kabaka’s attendance, which underscored the significance of the event in Buganda’s heritage. Furthermore, he acknowledged the tournament’s sponsors, particularly Airtel Uganda, for their unwavering support.
Since its inception in 2004, the Masaza Cup has featured 18 teams representing different counties in the Buganda Kingdom. The 20th edition of the Airtel Masaza Cup also aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, highlighting the event’s broader social impact.
