Davido Joins Grammy Voting Academy Ahead of 2026 Awards

Nigerian music star Davido has officially become a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body behind the Grammy Awards. His inclusion means he will now participate directly in selecting nominees and winners for the 2026 edition of the prestigious awards.

The Recording Academy announced the news on its official Instagram page, where it highlighted new members for their dedication to the art of music. In a video post, the organisation featured Davido alongside other global artistes who will be part of the voting process.

“Creating a song or an album takes heart, time, and dedication. That’s why Recording Academy members including @Davido, @ravynlenae, @offsetyrn, @jessiereyez, @zacbrownband, @anneakikomeyers, @miles.minnick, @mayaelizabethmusic, @damiensneed, @damarismusica, and @stewart_copeland are sharing why your participation matters,” the Academy wrote in its caption.

Reacting to the development, Davido described his new role as a major step forward in his career and influence within the global music space. “Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard and participating in the Grammy Award process is a game changer,” he said. “I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on each award season. I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community, and I look forward to voting.”

As a voting member, Davido will be involved in both the nomination stage and the final voting process that determines the winners. This milestone expands his role in shaping the global music industry beyond just being an artist and performer.

The Recording Academy also announced key dates for the upcoming season, with nominees set to be unveiled on November 7, while the award ceremony is scheduled for February 1, 2026.

Davido is not new to the Grammy platform, having earned four nominations in recent years. In 2024, he was nominated in categories such as Best Global Music Album, Best African Music Performance, and Best Global Music Performance. The following year, his track Sensational received a nomination for Best African Music Performance. Although he is yet to secure a win, his new position places him at the heart of the process that recognises the world’s most celebrated musicians.
