Bandit Attack in Kwara Church Leaves Three Dead, Many Abducted

At around 6:05 pm on Tuesday, bandits launched a violent attack on a church in Eruku, Kwara State, killing and abducting several worshippers.

Reports from DAILY POST indicate that the First C.A.C Church in the Oke Ado area of Eruku town, Ekiti Local Government Area, was hosting a special programme when the attackers struck. Security sources said worshippers were present in large numbers at the time of the incident.

Initial accounts confirm that three people were killed during the attack. Two of the victims have been identified as Asaba and Deremi, while the third has not yet been named. In addition, at least 30 residents, including children and elderly individuals, were reportedly abducted by the bandits and taken into nearby bushes. Several others sustained gunshot injuries and have been rushed to Egbe General Hospital in Kogi State for treatment.

Security officials explained that this attack followed a series of previous raids by bandits in and around Eruku town, which shares boundaries with Kogi State. However, Tuesday’s incident was particularly severe, escalating fear and panic among local residents. The community now faces heightened anxiety as families await news of the abducted individuals.

Local authorities and security agencies have launched search and rescue operations to locate those taken by the bandits. Residents are calling on the government and security forces to take urgent action to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of the community.

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the attack through its spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, who promised that more information would be provided as investigations continue. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the attackers or the missing residents to come forward to aid the ongoing operations.
