Nigerian Security Forces Rescue 13 Kidnapping Victims in Daring Operation

Nigerian security forces successfully rescued 13 individuals held captive by kidnappers in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State. This operation, part of Sector 4 of Operation Whirl Punch, involved a fierce firefight with the abductors.

According to Samuel Aruwan, the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, the rescue was prompted by credible intelligence about bandits moving kidnapped victims near Chigulu village. Troops were mobilized quickly to intercept the bandits and carry out the rescue.

Upon arriving at the suspected bandits' camp, the security forces engaged in an intense gun battle. The confrontation took place at the base of a high ground, where the bandits were ultimately subdued. In the chaos, the kidnappers fled into the dense forest, leaving behind their hostages.

The operation resulted in the rescue of 13 hostages, which included six men and seven women. Following the successful rescue, the troops dismantled the bandits’ camp, destroying various items such as clothing and personal belongings that were found at the site.

In addition to freeing the hostages, the security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons and items. This included one AK-47 rifle, one locally-made rifle, four AK-47 magazines, and 87 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. They also seized five mini solar panels, five mobile phones, and cash amounting to N192,220.

After the rescue, the hostages were taken to a military facility for medical examinations and debriefing. They were later reunited with their families, much to the relief and joy of their loved ones.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State expressed his satisfaction with the operation. He praised the swift response of the troops, particularly acknowledging Major General MLD Saraso, who leads the Operation Whirl Punch. The governor conveyed his heartfelt goodwill to the rescued individuals as they returned to their families.

This successful rescue operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Nigerian security forces to combat kidnapping and ensure the safety of citizens in the region. The courage and dedication demonstrated by the troops serve as a reminder of the challenges faced in securing peace and safety in Kaduna State and beyond.
