Ugandan musician Patrick Mulwana, also known as Alien Skin, has been charged with assaulting staff at Nsambya Hospital. The charges were read in court today, and Alien Skin, along with his bodyguard Julius Mugabi, was sent back to Luzira Prison.
Alien Skin appeared before Chief Magistrate Esther Adikini at the Makindye Chief Magistrates Court, where he and Mugabi faced three new charges related to an incident at St. Francis Nsambya Hospital. The charges stem from an alleged attack on doctors Zaidi Matovu, Alex Odongo, and Anthony Munyanda on November 19, 2024.
The case began when Alien Skin and his crew rushed their colleague, Joram Tumwesigye, to the hospital after a car accident. According to reports, the doctors allegedly neglected Tumwesigye’s treatment, which led to chaos and the subsequent assault on the hospital staff.
Alien Skin and Mugabi both denied the assault charges in court. They also face a separate charge of robbery, accused of stealing a phone worth 3.5 million shillings and 480,000 shillings from a man named Salim Mubiru.
During the hearing, Alien Skin applied for bail, presenting three sureties, including his mother, Nanyanzi Juliet. However, state prosecutors opposed the bail application, citing concerns that Alien Skin might interfere with the arrest of 18 others who are still at large in connection with the incident.
Chief Magistrate Adikini decided to remand Alien Skin and Mugabi until Thursday when a decision on the bail application will be made. The investigations are ongoing, and the court will consider whether to grant bail at the next hearing.
The case has drawn attention to the ongoing legal troubles of the musician, who remains in custody as the legal process continues. The outcome of this case will likely have significant implications for both Alien Skin and the ongoing investigation into the assault.
