
“Severance,” “The Studio,” and “The White Lotus” are among the top contenders for this year’s 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, with nominations announced Tuesday morning.
Apple TV+’s “Severance,” which recently wrapped up its second season, leads all shows with 27 nominations. It’s followed closely by HBO Max’s “The Penguin” with 24 nods, while “The White Lotus” and “The Studio” each earned 23 nominations. “The Studio” ties “The Bear” for the most nominations ever for a comedy in a single year.
Veteran actor Harrison Ford, now 83, received his first-ever Emmy nomination for his supporting role in the Apple TV+ sitcom “Shrinking.” The nominations were revealed by actors Harvey Guillén and Brenda Song, with two major categories—Outstanding Reality Competition and Outstanding Talk Series—unveiled on CBS Mornings.
In the Outstanding Drama Series category, contenders include “Severance,” “The White Lotus,” “The Last of Us,” “The Diplomat,” and “Slow Horses.” For comedy, nominees include “Abbott Elementary,” “Hacks,” “The Bear,” “The Studio,” “Shrinking,” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”
The Limited or Anthology Series category features titles such as “The Penguin,” “Adolescence,” “Black Mirror,” and “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” In the Television Movie category, “Rebel Ridge” and “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” are among those recognized.
The list also includes nominations for live and pre-recorded variety specials, talk shows, game shows, and scripted variety series. “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” and “Saturday Night Live” are both up for Outstanding Scripted Variety Series.
In acting categories, nominees include Bella Ramsey, Pedro Pascal, and Keri Russell in drama, and Quinta Brunson, Jeremy Allen White, and Jean Smart in comedy. Notable limited series acting nominees include Cate Blanchett, Colin Farrell, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
This year’s Emmy Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS on Sunday, September 14. Comedian Nate Bargatze, who also received a nomination for his Netflix special Your Friend, Nate Bargatze, will host the event.
