Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson was forced to leave Sunday’s 21-17 loss to the Denver Broncos with an ankle injury, raising fresh concerns for a team already battling offensive struggles this season.
Dickerson went down in the first quarter after his left ankle appeared to be rolled up on during a play. He was replaced by Bret Toth and was later ruled out for the remainder of the game. Afterward, he was spotted walking with a limp, his left ankle heavily taped, according to CBS Sports’ Jeff Kerr.
The setback adds to a string of health issues for Dickerson in 2025. In training camp, he underwent surgery to repair a meniscus injury but managed to return in time for the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. He has also been listed on the injury report with a back problem in the early weeks of the season. Now, this latest ankle injury could further limit his availability.
The Eagles also lost backup tight end Grant Calcaterra, who exited with an oblique injury after recording two catches for 18 yards. The severity of both Dickerson and Calcaterra’s injuries remains uncertain, but their status for Thursday night’s Week 6 matchup against the New York Giants is in doubt.
Philadelphia’s offense has been underwhelming through the first five weeks of the season, particularly in the running game. Last year’s explosive rushing performances, highlighted by Saquon Barkley’s big-play ability, have been missing. Against Denver, Barkley carried the ball just six times for 30 yards, as the Eagles averaged 4.1 yards per carry.
Dickerson’s absence is a major concern for the offensive line, which is central to the team’s ability to protect quarterback Jalen Hurts and open lanes for Barkley. If he is sidelined for an extended period, the Eagles could struggle even more to find rhythm in an already inconsistent offense.
As of now, the Eagles will await further evaluations to determine the severity of the injuries. With a short turnaround before facing a division rival in prime time, the health of Dickerson and Calcaterra will be closely monitored in the coming days.
