Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has been charged with felony battery following a violent altercation in Indianapolis that left one man seriously injured. The 38-year-old, who now works as a game analyst for Fox Sports, was also hospitalized with multiple stab wounds after the incident early Saturday morning.

Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced Monday that Sanchez faces a felony charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence ranging from one to six years. Mears described the case as “a situation that did not need to occur,” noting that the dispute reportedly began over a parking issue.

According to prosecutors, the altercation involved Sanchez and a 69-year-old man, who sustained what Mears described as “significant and very severe injuries.” Details about what led to the confrontation remain limited as the investigation is ongoing. Mears said investigators are still reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses, adding that more charges could be filed depending on the findings.

Authorities confirmed that Sanchez was taken to the hospital for treatment of multiple stab wounds sustained during the fight. Sanchez, who was drafted fifth overall by the New York Jets in 2009, played eight seasons in the NFL, also spending time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders before retiring. Since 2021, he has served as a football analyst for Fox Sports, covering NFL games and commentary.
