Airtel Uganda Expands Network in Fort Portal to Boost Tourism

Airtel Uganda has launched eight new network sites in Fort Portal City, strengthening its commitment to improving connectivity and accelerating digital transformation in the region. The expansion is expected to benefit businesses, tourists, and residents by providing faster and more reliable network access.

Strengthening Connectivity in Fort Portal

The new network sites, which include locations such as Fort Portal Njara, Fort Portal Boma, and Kijura, are now fully operational. According to Airtel Uganda’s Business Territory Manager, Mathias Busuulwa, the expansion is part of the company’s ongoing investment in enhancing network coverage and ensuring a seamless digital experience for users in the greater Tooro region.

“Connectivity is more than just a service; it is a gateway to world tourism, business growth, education, healthcare, and financial inclusion,” Busuulwa said. “For Fort Portal to continue thriving as a hub for tourism, business, and innovation, it requires a strong and reliable network.”

Boosting the Local Economy

The improved connectivity is expected to enhance e-commerce, support online jobs, and promote innovation. It will also play a crucial role in strengthening the tourism sector by making it easier for businesses and visitors to access digital services.

Richard Rwabuhinga, District Chairperson of Kabarole, applauded Airtel Uganda for its investment, noting that a strong network infrastructure is essential for economic growth.

“With reliable 4G connectivity, we can boost e-commerce, support innovation, and enhance participation in digital markets,” Rwabuhinga said. “A strong network will also attract more visitors to Fort Portal, strengthening the local economy and helping businesses grow.”

Airtel’s Commitment to National Development

Airtel Uganda remains committed to expanding its network infrastructure nationwide. The company has been actively investing in improving connectivity to support national development, economic growth, and digital inclusion.

“We are grateful to the people of Fort Portal for trusting Airtel Uganda,” Busuulwa added. “Last year, we promised to act on the feedback we received. We have delivered on that promise and remain committed to connecting Tooro to the world.”

With this expansion, Airtel Uganda continues to position itself as a leading network provider that empowers communities, supports businesses, and drives innovation across the country.
