Kenyan Motocross Coaches Set for Expert Training with Andre Dearden's Visit

Motocross trainer Andre Dearden has arrived in Kenya to conduct a specialized training program for off-road motorcycling coaches and instructors. This event, known as "Training the Trainers" (TTT), will take place at the Jamhuri MX Track on September 13, 14, and 15.

Dearden’s visit is made possible by the Women in Motorcycling Commission of FIM Africa, along with support from the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). The training program aims to enhance the skills and development of women in motocross, both as riders and trainers.

The focus of the “Training of Off-Road Trainers” program is to educate and train more instructors across Africa, fostering motorcycling skills and coaching young riders, especially women. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that FIM member countries can nurture new talent from the grassroots level and promote top riders as trainers.

The program welcomes all qualified trainers, in addition to selected women participants. This inclusive approach is designed to strengthen the coaching community and elevate the overall standard of motocross in the region.

Following his time in Kenya, Dearden will travel to Uganda to provide similar training as part of a continental initiative that aims to equip several African nations with coaching expertise. This series of training sessions builds on the recent FIM MX GP Academy held in Kenya earlier in August, which was organized by the Motorcycle Sports Federation of Kenya.

The federation is committed to improving the skills of local coaches, trainers, and athletes, aligning with their goal of increasing participation in motorcycling sports across the country. By raising standards, they hope to cultivate a new generation of talented riders.

During his stay, Dearden will also conduct training for the Kenya MX team in preparation for the upcoming MX of African Nations event, scheduled to take place in Morocco in October. This opportunity follows Kenya’s successful hosting of the MXGP Academy for the first time from August 2-4.

The MXGP Academy, initiated in 2015, aims to develop motocross talent globally. It collaborates with various national motorsport federations, including the Motorcycle Sports Federation of Kenya, to enhance the sport's reach and effectiveness. Dearden's expertise is expected to significantly benefit Kenyan motocross as it continues to grow and develop.
