AEW Dynamite Ratings Drop Amid NBA, CMA Awards Competition

The latest episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS drew an average of 640,000 viewers, marking a 3.9% drop from the previous week. Despite the dip, it achieved the second-highest viewership since October 2. The show ranked fourth on the prime-time cable charts, securing a 0.20 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. This rating was 9.1% lower than last week but matched the second-highest demo performance since October 2.

Dynamite faced stiff competition on Wednesday night, including an NBA game on ESPN, which led the cable ratings with a 0.35 demo rating and 1.2 million viewers. Additionally, the CMA Awards on ABC drew 6.1 million viewers and a 0.81 demo rating, dominating the night in overall viewership and the 18-49 category.

Compared to the same week last year, Dynamite's numbers showed a significant decline. Overall viewership was down 24.3%, and its 18-49 rating dropped by 23.1%. Despite this, the show performed slightly above its recent averages. This week’s episode was up 3.2% in total viewership and 5.3% in the 18-49 demographic compared to the previous 10-week average.

The last 11 weeks of Dynamite's ratings and viewership provide some context for its current performance:

This Week: 640,000 viewers, 0.20 demo rating

Last Week: 666,000 viewers, 0.22 demo rating

10-Week Average: Approximately 620,000 viewers, 0.19 demo rating

While Dynamite has seen ups and downs in recent months, its performance this week shows resilience despite facing high-profile competitors. However, the year-over-year decline highlights challenges in retaining its audience, particularly with increased competition from other major televised events.

As AEW heads into the end of the year, maintaining and growing its audience will remain a key priority, especially as it continues to battle for viewership against sports and entertainment giants.
