Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has voiced his disappointment over the club's failure to offer him a new contract, raising doubts about his future at Anfield. His current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and the 32-year-old has admitted he is frustrated by the lack of communication from the club regarding an extension.
Salah, who has been in top form this season, is Liverpool's leading scorer with 12 goals across all competitions. In a thrilling 3-2 victory against Southampton, Salah scored twice, including a decisive penalty, helping Liverpool extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points.
After the match, Salah spoke to reporters about his contract situation, saying, "We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club. I’m probably more out than in." When asked if he was disappointed by the lack of offers, he replied, "Of course, yeah. I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season. I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well."
Liverpool has not publicly responded to Salah's remarks. However, a club source told BBC Sport that negotiations between Liverpool and Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, are ongoing and that they have been positive.
Despite the uncertainty, Salah remains focused on his performances. He is currently second in the Premier League’s goal-scoring race, behind only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. Salah signed a three-year contract extension in 2022, and his current contract will expire next summer.
Salah has expressed his love for the club, saying, “You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end, it’s not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
As his contract nears its end, Salah’s future remains uncertain, with key players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk also facing similar contract situations.
