Uganda Welcomes French, Spanish Influencers to Boost Tourism

Uganda has launched a new tourism campaign targeting French and Spanish-speaking travelers by inviting top social media influencers from France and Spain. The initiative, led by the Ugandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and Uganda’s Embassy in France, aims to position the country as a must-visit destination.

The influencers, who have a combined following of over 2 million, will be in Uganda until March 15. Their visit is expected to showcase the country’s breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage to a global audience.

Promoting Uganda’s Tourism Potential

Speaking at the launch event in Kampala, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Bagiire Vincent Waiswa, highlighted Uganda’s unique appeal.

"From our favorable climate to our diverse cultures and the warmth of our people, Uganda is ready to welcome the world," he said. He encouraged the influencers to explore the country and share their experiences with their audiences.

Bagiire also emphasized Uganda’s cultural richness, pointing out that the country is home to over 20 different cultures. “Our diversity is reflected in our food, dress, and way of life. Despite our differences, Ugandans live together harmoniously, and we invite you to experience our hospitality.”

Uganda’s Ambassador to France, Doreen Ruth Amule, echoed these sentiments, saying the collaboration with influencers would help promote Uganda’s image globally. "Uganda, The Pearl of Africa, is brimming with natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and rich culture. This partnership will allow us to share our experiences with the world and attract more visitors.”

Exploring Uganda’s Top Attractions

The influencers, working with Paris-based influencer marketing agency TANKE, will visit some of Uganda’s most famous tourist sites. Their itinerary includes:

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Home to Uganda’s famous mountain gorillas.

Queen Elizabeth National Park – Offering exciting safari experiences.

The Nile River – A top destination for adventure seekers.

In addition to nature and wildlife, they will also engage with local communities and experience Ugandan cuisine.

Lilly Ajarova, CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board, expressed enthusiasm for the campaign. "We are thrilled to host these skilled influencers. Their content will enhance Uganda’s visibility and help position us as a premier travel destination for French and Spanish-speaking audiences."

A Strategic Tourism Initiative

Margaret Kafeero, Head of Public Diplomacy, emphasized the importance of the initiative. She noted that engaging influencers from key European markets would bridge the gap in tourism promotion and increase Uganda’s global appeal.

The campaign is part of Uganda’s broader strategy to grow its tourism industry and attract more international visitors. With the power of social media, the country hopes to reach new audiences and showcase its incredible travel experiences to the world.
