Ancelotti Believes Mbappe Can Become Real Madrid Legend

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed his belief that French star Kylian Mbappe has the potential to become a club legend, similar to Cristiano Ronaldo. Ancelotti made the statement on Monday, emphasizing that Mbappe could achieve legendary status at Madrid, just like Ronaldo, who is the club's all-time top scorer.

Mbappe, 26, joined Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain last summer. In his first season, he has already matched Ronaldo’s record of 33 goals, a feat he achieved after scoring twice against Leganes in a La Liga match on Saturday.

Ancelotti spoke highly of Mbappe’s abilities and his future at the club, saying, “What I wish for Mbappe is that he is capable of achieving what Ronaldo did at Real Madrid — and I think that he can do it. That means he will be a legend at Real Madrid like Cristiano Ronaldo is.”

Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Real Madrid in 2009 from Manchester United, left the club in 2018 with a staggering 450 goals. His first season at Madrid saw him score 33 goals in just 35 appearances. Ronaldo’s legacy at Madrid is unparalleled, and Mbappe has made an impressive start toward his own path to greatness at the club.

Mbappe himself reflected on the significance of equaling Ronaldo's record, saying it was “very special” for him. He also shared that he has received advice from Ronaldo, which has been valuable to him as he continues to grow at Madrid.

With Real Madrid still competing for trophies in three major competitions this season, Mbappe has the opportunity to add even more goals to his tally. The club will play Real Sociedad on Tuesday in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals, holding a 1-0 advantage from the first leg. A victory in the competition would mark Ancelotti’s third Copa del Rey win as manager of the club
