Man Killed in Suspected Love Triangle at Woman’s House in Migori

A 37-year-old man was killed in North East Kadem, Nyatike sub-county, Migori County, after a violent confrontation with another man at a woman’s house. The two men, who were allegedly involved with the same married woman, met unexpectedly at her home, leading to a deadly altercation.

Deadly Fight Over a Woman

According to reports, the incident happened on Sunday, March 31, when the deceased, identified as Kevin Ouma, visited the woman’s house for a date. A few hours later, another man, Johnson Ochieng, also arrived at the house, unaware that Ouma was already there.

The situation quickly escalated into a fight, during which both men suffered deep panga (machete) wounds. Ouma succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while Ochieng survived and was rushed to Migori Level Four Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Community Outrage and Retaliation

Confirming the incident, North East Kadem chief Voshastar Akal stated that the woman involved is married, but her husband was away working outside Migori County at the time.

Following Ouma’s death, angry relatives of the deceased stormed the woman’s house and set it on fire. Authorities have since launched an investigation into both the fatal fight and the arson attack.

“The matter is under police investigation,” Chief Akal said, urging residents to allow law enforcement to handle the case.

Ongoing Investigations

The body of the deceased was taken to Migori Level Four Hospital morgue for a postmortem examination as part of the ongoing probe. Meanwhile, police are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the altercation and whether there were any premeditated actions leading to the attack.

This incident adds to a growing list of violent crimes linked to suspected love triangles in the region. Authorities are urging the public to seek peaceful solutions to disputes rather than resorting to violence.
