Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi played a key role in Fulham’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool on Sunday, providing a goal and an assist. This win ended Liverpool's impressive 26-match unbeaten run in the Premier League at Craven Cottage.
Iwobi, making his 31st appearance for Fulham, scored his eighth goal of the season and also registered his fifth assist. His Nigerian teammate, Calvin Bassey, also featured in the match, marking his 29th appearance for Fulham.
The match started with Liverpool taking the lead through a stunning 25-yard strike from Alexis Mac Allister. However, Fulham quickly turned the game around, scoring three goals in just 13 minutes before halftime. Ryan Sessegnon equalized with a well-placed first-time finish following a precise cross from Andreas Pereira.
Iwobi then put Fulham ahead in the 37th minute with a well-executed strike, followed by Rodrigo Muniz, who made it 3-1 for the home side just before the break.
In the second half, Liverpool fought back, and Luis Diaz pulled one back in the 72nd minute, finishing from close range after a pass from substitute Conor Bradley. Despite their efforts, Liverpool could not find an equalizer, and Fulham held on for the win.
With this result, Fulham handed Liverpool their first loss in 27 matches in the Premier League. The victory was a significant boost for Marco Silva’s side, as they continue to challenge for a strong finish this season.
In other Premier League action on Sunday, Tottenham secured a 3-1 win over Southampton, while Chelsea were held to a goalless draw at Brentford.
