NPSC Sets October Recruitment for 10,000 Police Constables Nationwide

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has officially announced that it will recruit 10,000 new police constables across the country, with the exercise scheduled to run from October 3 to October 9, 2025. The announcement comes just days after the commission presented its recruitment plans for the 2025/2026 financial year before the National Assembly’s Committee on Internal Security.

In a public notice issued on Friday, September 19, the commission outlined the recruitment guidelines and warned against any corruption-related practices such as bribery during the process. “Corruption attempts such as bribery will not be tolerated, and stern action will be taken against individuals involved,” the commission cautioned. It also warned that providing false or misleading information would amount to an offence punishable by up to two years in prison or a fine of Ksh200,000.

Members of the public have been urged to report recruitment malpractices by calling hotlines 0709090000, 999, 911, 112, or 0800722203, or by reporting to the nearest police station.

Requirements for Applicants

Applicants must be Kenyan citizens between the ages of 18 and 28 and must hold a valid national identity card. They are required to have attained at least a D+ grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), with a minimum of D in both English and Kiswahili.

Candidates must also be physically fit, with the minimum height set at 5 feet 8 inches for men and 5 feet 3 inches for women. Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and training. In addition, all candidates must have a clean criminal record, with no pending charges.

The commission encouraged National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet the entry requirements to apply.

Application Process

Application forms can be downloaded from official websites including npsc.go.ke, kenyapolice.go.ke, administrationpolice.go.ke, dci.ke, nationalpolice.go.ke, and mygov.go.ke. Physical copies will also be available at Huduma Centres nationwide.

On recruitment day, applicants must present themselves at designated centres in their constituencies with both original and photocopies of key documents. These include academic certificates, testimonials, national ID, birth certificate, and NYS discharge certificate where applicable. All original documents will be returned after verification.

The NPSC emphasized that the recruitment will be conducted fairly across the country between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.
