Messi Scores Stunning Free-Kick as Inter Miami Beat Porto 2-1

Lionel Messi scored a brilliant free-kick as Inter Miami came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Porto.

The match, part of the FIFA Club World Cup, marked Inter Miami’s first victory in the tournament after their opening goalless draw against Al Ahly. Messi’s goal was his 50th for the Major League Soccer (MLS) side, and it helped move his team level on points with Group A leaders Palmeiras.

Porto started the game strongly and took the lead early. In the sixth minute, Noah Allen brought down Joao Mario in the box, leading to a penalty. Samu stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to give the Portuguese side a 1-0 advantage.

Inter Miami struggled to respond in the first half and went into the break trailing. But just two minutes after the restart, they found their equaliser. Marcelo Weigandt sent a precise cross into the box, and Telasco Segovia struck it into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance.

The turning point came when Messi stepped up for a free-kick from 25 yards out. The Argentine forward curled the ball into the top right corner, scoring his 68th career free-kick goal and his 50th in just 61 matches for Inter Miami. It was a moment of trademark brilliance from the World Cup winner and gave his team the lead with just over 20 minutes left to play.

Porto pushed for another goal but were unable to break down the Inter Miami defense. Messi’s free-kick proved to be the winner in a tightly contested match.

With this result, Inter Miami now sit second in Group A, tied on points with Brazilian side Palmeiras but behind on goal difference. The win gives them a strong chance of advancing in the tournament, with one group match remaining.

Messi’s performance once again showed his importance to the team, especially in high-stakes matches. His contribution helped secure a vital three points for Inter Miami, who continue to grow in confidence on the international stage.
