Liverpool have turned down a £58.6 million bid from Bayern Munich for Colombian winger Luis Diaz, reaffirming that he is not for sale.
The offer, submitted earlier this month and formally reinforced on Tuesday, was swiftly rejected by the Premier League champions. Liverpool made it clear that Diaz remains a crucial part of their squad under new manager Arne Slot and that they have no intention of letting him leave.
Diaz, 28, is under contract with the Reds until 2027. He had an impressive season, scoring 22 goals for both club and country, including 13 in the Premier League. His contributions played a key role in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign, which saw them finish 10 points ahead of their nearest rivals.
According to reports, Liverpool value Diaz at more than £87 million. That valuation reflects his importance to the team as well as his strong performances last season. Despite ongoing interest from other top clubs, including Manchester City and teams in Saudi Arabia, Liverpool remain firm in their decision to keep the Colombian international.
Bayern Munich had hoped to strengthen their attacking options by signing Diaz, but Liverpool’s response leaves little room for negotiation at this stage. The rejection of the bid signals their intent to build the team around key players like Diaz as they enter a new era under Slot’s leadership.
While Liverpool have shut the door on Diaz’s departure, they are actively looking to bring in a new striker. Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has emerged as a priority target. According to BBC Sport, the Merseyside club has made tangible progress in talks for the Swedish forward, though no deal has been finalized yet.
In addition to Isak, Liverpool are also assessing other centre-forward options as they aim to strengthen their attack ahead of the new season.
With the summer transfer window heating up, Liverpool’s firm stance on Diaz and their pursuit of new attacking talent highlight their ambition to remain at the top of English and European football.
