Cristiano Ronaldo is engaged to his long-term partner Georgina Rodríguez, marking a new milestone in their nine-year relationship. Rodríguez shared the news on social media with a photo of a large engagement ring, writing in Spanish: “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.” Ronaldo, the most-followed person on Instagram, has yet to publicly comment on the engagement.
The couple first met in Madrid when Rodríguez was working at a Gucci store and Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid. Since then, they have built a life together, raising five children — two of them shared between the couple. Their youngest daughter, Bella, was born in April 2022, alongside a twin brother who was tragically stillborn. Rodríguez has also played a key role in raising Ronaldo’s three other children.
The announcement drew a flood of reactions from fans and celebrities alike. Many left congratulatory messages, with one top comment reading, “She said siu!” — a playful nod to Ronaldo’s iconic goal celebration. Among the famous names celebrating the couple were Kim Kardashian, media personality Piers Morgan, celebrity make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury, and Lauren Sanchez-Bezos, who married Amazon founder Jeff Bezos earlier this year. Morgan wished the couple “as much success in their marriage as he’s had on the football pitch.”
Rodríguez, who stars in the Netflix reality show I Am Georgina, had previously addressed speculation about a possible wedding, joking that her friends would tease her with Jennifer Lopez’s song “The Ring or When.” She noted that the decision was “not up to me.”
The family now lives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays for Al-Nassr. The Portuguese forward joined the club in December 2022 on a contract reportedly worth £177 million ($238 million) annually. In June 2025, it was confirmed that his deal had been extended until 2027, despite earlier speculation about retirement.
Following the extension, Ronaldo wrote on X: “A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.” With a wedding now on the horizon, that new chapter extends beyond the football field, blending his legendary career with a personal milestone fans around the world are celebrating
