Man Found with Police Uniforms Arrested in Kitui, Three Others Held

Police in Kitui have arrested a man found in possession of police uniforms, raising concerns over security attire falling into the wrong hands. The suspect, 33-year-old Ernest Musyoka, was being pursued by officers from Mutitu Police Station for allegedly threatening to kill and assaulting someone.

When officers tracked him to his home in Itiko village, they discovered a stash of Administration Police Service (APS) and National Youth Service (NYS) uniforms. The items found included a senior APS officer’s sweater, a maroon APS sweater, a green jungle sweater, three jungle belts, two pairs of APS trousers, three black berets, three jungle t-shirts, and four pairs of green socks. Police also recovered two shirts and a sweater believed to belong to the NYS.

Authorities are now investigating how Musyoka obtained the uniforms and whether they were being used for criminal activities.

Meanwhile, in Voi, police arrested three suspected highway robbers who had been evading capture. The suspects, identified as 40-year-old Joseph Macharia, his namesake Joseph Macharia Mwangi, also 40, and 36-year-old Peter Muchemi Maina, were arrested alongside a woman, Agnes Malemba Mshenga.

The four were traveling in a white Subaru Legacy with registration number KCJ 842Z when officers stopped them. A search of the vehicle uncovered three sets of reflective number plates—KCR 879U, KCA 583L, and KAZ 946L.

Additionally, police found jungle uniforms, a kitchen knife, two Maasai swords, and a mechanics kit filled with spanners, a jack, pressure pumps, puncture repair tools, brake pads, and various tools commonly used for house break-ins.

The suspects are currently being held at Voi Police Station as investigations continue. Detectives are working to determine whether they are linked to recent robberies in the region.
