Three men have been arrested in connection with a robbery that targeted a vehicle transporting gold concentrate near Jukwa town in Ghana’s Western Region.
The incident occurred on July 15, 2025, when a Toyota Hilux pickup truck, with registration number GT 7426-23, was ambushed while moving gold concentrate from a mining site to Wassa Akropong. The vehicle was attacked just outside Jukwa, near Afransie. At the time of the robbery, the vehicle was occupied by three individuals: the driver, Kofi Gyamfi, a security guard named Bashiru, and one other person.
According to police reports, the attackers made away with the gold concentrate after successfully intercepting the pickup. A quick response by officers from the Western Central Regional Police Command led to the arrest of Foster Peprah, a small-scale miner, who was found at the scene.
Initial investigations revealed that Foster did not act alone. He told police that he carried out the robbery with an accomplice named Isaac, who is still at large. During questioning, Foster also implicated the driver of the vehicle, Kofi Gyamfi, claiming he was the one who invited them to commit the robbery.
Following this lead, police arrested Kofi Gyamfi. He later told investigators that the entire plan had been orchestrated by the security guard, Bashiru. Acting on this information, officers tracked Bashiru to a hideout in Wassa Gyedua, where he was arrested.
All three suspects—Foster Peprah, Kofi Gyamfi, and Bashiru—are currently in police custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, the search for Isaac, the fourth suspect who remains on the run, is still underway.
Police say they are committed to bringing all those involved in the robbery to justice and have urged the public to provide any information that could help in locating the fugitive.
