WWE has announced two big championship matches for tonight’s episode of SmackDown, the first show after WrestleMania 41.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis revealed that John Cena would appear tonight and also shared that Chelsea Green will defend her Women's United States Championship against Zelina Vega. Aldis was inspired to schedule the title match after seeing a motivational quote from coach Robert Hughes at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. He called Green to inform her about the title defense, and she was clearly unhappy with the decision.
During the call, Aldis said, “Great! So you will have no problem defending the title against Zelina Vega live on SmackDown! Chelsea, thank you so much! Good luck, see you in a bit,” highlighting how last-minute the match was arranged.
The evening’s excitement doesn't stop there. In the main event, The Street Profits will put their WWE Tag Team Championship on the line. They are set to face Motor City Machine Guns and #DIY in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs (TLC) match.
The Street Profits, led by Montez Ford, had previously captured the titles from Motor City Machine Guns earlier this year. Interestingly, they were not featured in a match at WrestleMania 41 last weekend, making tonight’s defense even more significant for the duo.
Ahead of the match, Ford posted a strong message on Instagram, promising fans a wild, action-packed night. He wrote, “TONIGHT THE KINGS OF THE TAG TEAM DIVISION OF THE WORLD WILL BE CROWNED. HAVE MERCY LORD. THIS VIOLENCE WILL BE TELEVISED. TLC 2025.”
Montez Ford, who is married to fellow WWE star Bianca Belair, had a special moment at WrestleMania when Belair brought his daughter onto the stage during her entrance. Although Belair later lost her match to IYO SKY, the emotional moment stood out.
Tonight’s SmackDown promises thrilling action, with two championships on the line and high emotions running through the WWE roster. Fans will be watching closely to see if Chelsea Green and The Street Profits can retain their titles under the spotlight.
