Barcelona Close to La Liga Title After Dramatic Win Over Real Madrid

Barcelona moved within touching distance of the La Liga title after a thrilling 4-3 victory over rivals Real Madrid on Sunday.

Real Madrid started strong, with Kylian Mbappe scoring twice to give his side a two-goal lead. However, Barcelona responded fiercely, scoring four goals before halftime to turn the match around. Raphinha led the comeback with two goals, while Eric Garcia and Lamine Yamal also found the net to put Barcelona in front.

In the second half, Mbappe completed his hat-trick with a goal 20 minutes from time, taking his tally to 39 goals in all competitions this season. This figure sets a new record for the most goals scored by a Real Madrid player in their debut season.

Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez thought he had extended the lead further, but his goal was disallowed for handball after a VAR check, adding more drama to an already tense encounter.

With this win, Barcelona moved seven points clear of Real Madrid with only three matches remaining in the league. This puts them in a commanding position to secure the La Liga title. A victory against local rivals Espanyol on Thursday would officially crown Barcelona as champions. Alternatively, they could clinch the title earlier if Real Madrid fail to beat Mallorca on Wednesday.

This latest victory also meant Barcelona matched a historic record. Having already defeated Real Madrid in the La Liga first leg, the Spanish Super Cup final, and the Copa del Rey final earlier this season, Barcelona has now won four El Clasico matches in a single campaign. This feat equals the record set by the club in the 1982-83 season.

Barcelona’s remarkable dominance over their biggest rivals this season has been key to their success. The win not only edges them closer to domestic glory but also underlines their superiority in one of football’s most famous rivalries.

With the title now within reach, all eyes will be on Barcelona’s next match, where they could officially secure their latest La Liga triumph.
