Ruto Vows Resilience as CSs, PSs Sign Performance Contracts

Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) and Principal Secretaries (PSs) signed their performance contracts this week as President William Ruto reaffirmed his administration's commitment to delivering on its promises despite criticism. The event underscores the government's focus on accountability and measurable progress in service delivery.

President Ruto emphasized his resolve to push forward with his agenda, stating that opposition or criticism would not deter his leadership. “We are here to serve Kenyans. Criticism is part of leadership, but it will not derail our mission,” he said.

The signing ceremony marked a significant step in ensuring government officials are held accountable for meeting specific targets. These contracts detail deliverables tied to key government priorities, including economic recovery, improved service delivery, and reforms across various sectors. President Ruto assured the public that the government remains steadfast in addressing pressing issues, particularly economic challenges and infrastructure development.

Meanwhile, the Gender, Culture, The Arts, and Heritage docket remains vacant following the failed nomination of Stella Lang’at, a career administrator, to the position. Despite being nominated by the president, Lang’at did not secure the role after her vetting process before the parliamentary committee. Her performance during oral interviews was deemed unsatisfactory, leaving the position unfilled.

The vacancy in this ministry has drawn attention, given its importance in driving gender equality, cultural preservation, and the promotion of arts and heritage. Analysts have pointed out that the absence of leadership in such a critical sector could affect the government’s ability to meet related goals.

The performance contract signing event reflects the administration's emphasis on ensuring all government officials are aligned with its vision. As the president continues to rally his team, the need to address gaps in leadership, such as the vacant CS role, will remain a priority.

By reinforcing accountability and staying focused on delivering results, the government aims to strengthen public confidence. The president's call for resilience and determination highlights his commitment to ensuring his administration’s success despite challenges
