Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady of Ghana, has expressed strong support for her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, highlighting his qualities as a capable and innovative leader. Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a book launch for the Samira Bawumia Literacy Prize initiative in Accra on Monday, November 18, she praised Dr. Bawumia’s intelligence, work ethic, and commitment to finding solutions for the country’s challenges.
“He has solutions to our problems. Dr. Bawumia is a very intelligent man. He’s an honest man. He works very hard and applies himself. This is a man bursting with ideas,” Samira Bawumia said. She emphasized that her husband is always looking for new ways to improve and does not repeat the same actions expecting different results.
Samira Bawumia stressed the importance of electing a leader who can drive Ghana’s development forward, particularly for the younger generation. “For us young people, that is the kind of leadership we need. We need somebody who will leapfrog Ghana's development. We need somebody who can look beyond where we are and say, we can do better, and we can do it faster,” she stated, reinforcing her belief in Dr. Bawumia’s vision for the country.
The Second Lady also highlighted the role of digitalization in transforming Ghana’s economy, praising the government’s efforts in this area. She pointed out that the country’s digitalization drive has been essential in modernizing the economy and improving efficiency. “With his digitalization drive, we're now in a position where the economy is expanding beyond where it would have been. Thanks to these digital platforms, we are creating efficiency and eliminating corruption,” Samira explained. She acknowledged that while there is still work to be done, the right leadership is key to accelerating the country’s progress.
Samira Bawumia’s comments reflect her strong belief in her husband’s leadership and his ability to bring about positive change in Ghana.
