Glen Powell on Sydney Sweeney, Chemistry, and Romance Rumors

Actor Glen Powell has addressed the speculation surrounding his on-screen chemistry with co-star Sydney Sweeney, revealing how they played into the rumors while promoting their romantic comedy.

During a recent interview, Powell explained that their effortless dynamic helped fuel interest in the film. “The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry,” he told The New York Times. “Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry.”

Playing Into the Speculation

Rumors of a possible romance between Powell and Sweeney gained traction during the press tour for their movie. Fans speculated about their close relationship, with many believing their connection went beyond the screen. Powell acknowledged that their interactions contributed to the buzz but explained that it was a deliberate move to generate excitement.

“That’s people wanting what’s on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully,” Powell said.

Sweeney, who was also involved in the promotional campaign, has not publicly commented on Powell’s remarks. However, she previously dismissed speculation about their relationship, emphasizing their professionalism and friendship.

A Successful Strategy

The strategy seemed to pay off, as the film generated significant attention, partly due to the perceived chemistry between its leads. Romantic comedies often rely on believable on-screen connections, and Powell and Sweeney’s playful approach helped keep audiences engaged.

Despite the gossip, Powell has made it clear that their dynamic was about selling the film rather than confirming any real-life romance. As Hollywood continues to embrace the resurgence of romantic comedies, actors like Powell and Sweeney prove that creating buzz—whether real or staged—can be a powerful tool in marketing.
