Bolanle Ninalowo, a popular Nigerian actor, recently shared the reasons behind his decision to let his 18-year-old daughter, Aliyah, get a navel piercing. In a conversation with media personality VJ Adams, Ninalowo explained how the decision was rooted in fostering a strong relationship with his daughter.
According to the actor, Aliyah initially expressed a desire for a tongue piercing. Ninalowo admitted he was uncomfortable with the idea but didn’t dismiss her outright. Instead, he suggested she consider alternatives.
“I remember one day my daughter woke me up and said she wanted to get a tongue ring,” Ninalowo recalled. “I took a moment to think and told her, ‘Aliyah, I wouldn’t want to kiss a girl with a tongue ring. Think about something else.’ She agreed to think it over.”
A few days later, Aliyah returned with a new idea: a navel piercing. This time, Ninalowo approved, explaining that a belly button ring was more acceptable to him because it could easily be removed. He accompanied her to the appointment and even covered the cost.
“I drove her there myself,” he said. “As much as I would rather not want that, it was an opportunity for me to connect with her. I didn’t want to stop her because it was important for our bond.”
This incident highlights Ninalowo’s approach to parenting, where maintaining trust and understanding with his children takes precedence. He emphasized the importance of being approachable and supportive while guiding them in making decisions.
Ninalowo shares two children with his ex-wife, Bunmi: Aliyah and their son, Morakinyo. The couple’s marriage ended last year due to irreconcilable differences. Despite the separation, Ninalowo continues to prioritize his role as a father and ensure his children feel supported.
This candid revelation offers a glimpse into the actor’s parenting style, showing how he balances setting boundaries with nurturing open communication and trust within his family.
